You're left with $5 worth of Baht, your phone is dying, you don't exactly know where you are — all you know is that a thunderstorm is fast approaching, thanks to summer monsoon season in Thailand. You *sort of* know where you need to be. With your dying phone, you manage to look up the closest place to your destination you can at least pronounce so the nearest Tuk Tuk driver can understand you.
"Sanyon Market," you say confidently.
"Sanyon Market?" The man questions, shifting his foot on and off the gas pedal, raising an eyebrow.
You look up at the ominous clouds. "My God, yes! I'm fucking sure, okay? Sanyon Market!"
"200 Baht," he slowly replies, nodding.
Well, you just don't have 200 Baht.
"200 Baht, sir?" You pull out your phone and open your Maps app — aggressively, desperately — aware you're using the last of your battery as you flash it in his face.
"I can easily walk this," you declare, knowing very well you can't. "I'll just walk away right now — it's your loss."
"80 Baht," he concedes.
This is still not good enough.
"50 or I walk," you reply, with an unmerited confidence.
"50. Okay," he grumbles.
You sigh a discreet sigh of relief and hoist yourself triumphantly upon the carriage, with minutes to spare as the rain starts pattering on the hood.
